My new favorite salad of all time!
Umami: Noun
uma·mi | \ ü-ˈmä-mē
The fifth basic taste—alongside sweet, sour, salty, and bitter—was named umami, meaning “savoriness” in Japanese
Ingredients: 4 cups kale – shredded 1 cup edamame – shelled 1 cup sugar snap peas – chopped 4 persian cucumbers – diced 1/3 cup red onion – finely diced (green scallions work well too) 1/2 cup lightly salted pistachios – shelled and roughly chopped 1/4 cup feta – crumbled 1/4 cup fresh mint – chiffonade “Umami” Dressing: 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil 2 – 3 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp maple syrup 1 tbsp grain mustard Salt & Pepper to taste Directions:Umami Kale Salad
Who knew that sesame, lemon, maple, & mustard would be the exact umami flavor my tastebuds have always wanted. Literally it’s a dream come true and your salads will never be the same again!
