Hummus Pizza

I cant write another word until I write this, read carefully… Baked Hummus is a Magical Thing!

If you’re still living in a world where you only eat your hummus cold, you are missing out on one of the most wonderful parts of life. Seize the day! Bake your hummus. Bake it now.
I am always inspired by my lovely friends on instagram, so when I saw Courtney’s (@projectsunny) beautiful pink beet hummus pizza, I was instantly reminded of Maya’s (@thedreamyleaf) instructions to cook with hummus. I remembered that I had pizza dough and fresh unopened mediteranean hummus in the fridge and there was nothing that could stop me from creating my very own Hummus Pizza. . . The rest is delicious pizza history. Let’s cook!

Ingredients:
Pizza Ingredients:
Whole Wheat Dough (Trader Joes)
1 cup mediteranean hummus
1/2 cup green/black olives
1 tomato sliced
1/2 purple onion sliced
LOTS OF ZA’ATAR
Olive Oil Spray
Dry Oregano, Crushed Red Pepper, Garlic Powder to season
Salad Ingredients:
Romaine lettuce
Arugula
Fresh Mint
Lemon Juice
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Step 1:
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
Step 2:
Roll out your dough on the baking sheet. I like to split mine in half and make 2 thin crust pizzas. Because 2 is always better than 1, when we’re talking about pizza. Spray your baking sheet with olive oil and place your dough right onto it.
Step 3:
Evenly spread a nice thick layer of hummus right on your dough. Dont forget to leave room for a crust.
Step 4:
Add a generous sprinkle of za’atar right over the hummus.
Step 5:
Layer on your toppings. Think mediteranean, olives, tomatoes, onions, etc… You can also season here with dry oregano, crushed red pepper, and garlic powder. Salt & Pepper always.
Step 6:
Pop your pizza in the oven for 10 – 12 minutes depending on how crispy you like your pizza. I like it crispy.
Step 7:
While your pizza is baking, make a simple salad to go right on top. If you’ve never had pizza on your salad, I dont know what you’ve been doing. It’s the best! Perfect little freshness to top off your warm and crispy pizza. Trust me dont skip. I mixed, romaine lettuce, arugula, & mint. Drizzled some olive oil, the juice of half a lemon, salt & pepper. Perfection.
Step 8:
Top your pizza with your salad. Slice. Devour!
Enjoy it veganly much!
P.S. If you’d like to see the gorgeous beet hummus pizza I was talking about, head over to Project Sunny blog for the recipe.
