So to start off, a vegan cold remedy because yes, vegans get sick too!
What’s the first thing people tell you as soon as you say you’re sick? In my world it’s always, drink some tea with lemon & honey! Every. Time.
Well since removing all animal product from my house I actually never restocked on honey. So it was time to create a vegan cold remedy of my own. This one is proven to cure any cold, even an omnivore cold. Hehe!
It’s simple and familiar so I know you can do it!
Ingredients:
Hot water
Black Tea
1 tablespoon Turmeric
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 ginger candy – crushed
1. Crush 1 – 3 pieces of Ginger hard candy into a large tea cup. Find one where the ingredients are just ginger + sugar. I got mine at Trader Joes, obviously.
2. Add 1 tablespoon Organic Turmeric powder.
3. Squeeze in juice of 1/2 a lemon.
4. Place tea bag in cup.
5. Pour boiling water into cup and stir well.
6. Drink while warm.
7. Repeat as much as possible until you’re not sick anymore.
Benefits:
Turmeric: This IS the miracle Herb! I’m telling you while I was doing some research I found that Turmeric cures everything from menstrual cramps to brain disorders. From bad breath to gallbladder disorders. It’s anti-inflamatory properties are off the hook to say the least! It’s got superpowers and should really be used daily. It’s known to help cure the common cold. And best of all it will turn your tea a very pretty bright orange color which makes it so much fun to drink. Here is where you can find more info on the mighty powers of Turmeric.
Lemon juice: Promotes Detoxing and Fights Infection. Plain and Simple. The internets told me so. But we all know it to be true. Plus it’s a citrus so it’s jam packed with good vitamins like the powerful Vitamin C! SO necessary when you have a cold. You can read more about the benefits of Lemon here.
Ginger: Acts as an antihistamine and decongestant to fight the common cold. The ancient Chinese medicine practitioners said so. It also helps with nausea and upset stomach and you should read more about it here.
Note: I am not a doctor, I don’t even play one on TV. This is just a remedy that works for me. You should always consult with your doc when you’re sick.
